My favourite memory of Courtney was undoubtedly at a wedding in Spain in 2023.
Courtney wasn't well but you wouldn't know as she joined in all the festivities and was her typical bright and bubbly self.
The night before the wedding there was a meal where a number of speeches were being made. Courtney was sitting beside the father of the groom at the meal and during a conversation Courtney found out that it was the father of the grooms birthday that day. Once learning this and, without hesitation, she went straight to the top of the room, took the microphone in hand and got the whole venue to sing happy birthday.
It is a memory that will last with me forever and brings a smile to my face every time I think about. It.
I'll miss you Courtney, thank you for bringing such joy and happiness to the everyone you met.

Courtney was such a sweet, kind, brave and strong woman. She always had a beautiful smile on her face. We have had the privilege of spending time with Courtney at holidays at her brother and sister-in-laws home, bachelorette parties, weddings, baby showers, birthday parties and baptisms for her niece and nephew. Although we never had the privilege to meet her own family, we followed her life and journey on social media. She was taken way too young and Heaven truly gained an angel.

If it weren’t for two beautiful women in my life getting cancer, we would have never met. Courtney and my sister Karolina shared a special bond of going through the worst of the worst and yet always holding on to the lighter side and focusing on the joyful moments in life to those of us on the outside. We met during COVID and immediately I wanted to be her friend. That’s just the type of person Courtney was. You met her and it was like you’d be thrown back into high school, just wanting the beautiful, radiant girl with the sweet and energetic personality to pay attention to you. My sister had met her first and while we have been literally competitive about everything since being teenagers, not once did she try to lay claim to a friendship with Courtney. And that’s just who Courtney was—so wonderfully radiant and exceptional that everyone ought to know her and be blessed to have her in their lives. Clearly she touched so many in so many different ways. I realize now that Courtney had a truly special gift in finding commonality with anyone. In my case, we were two young mothers attempting to navigate raising our young children during a pandemic. And she was recovering and fighting all through that. In a way, it was a blessing as the fondest memories during that difficult time were with Courtney, my sister, and me, with her boy and my two girls, trying to just figure it out and live life normally through playdates and walks and playground visits.
Something struck me about what she wrote on her blog in 2022. Perhaps she wanted to leave us mortals a hint, even back then.: “I promise this story will not be a never ending saga of sadness. There will be happy moments and heartwarming bits; but it's befitting to know that just as they occurred in real life, they are sporadic and unpredictable. There will be funny anecdotes, some on the darker side, some on the lighter side. These too will come when you least expect it.” She certainly nailed the description of life right there and when I struggle with the reality of losing her in this life, I read those words to better understand that this is only one chapter. She is already on to the next. So, in her honor, and with a bit of light humor as we all swore that these pictures shouldn’t be published anywhere because none of us were close to being ready for a photo shoot, to say the least; I’m sharing a moment between three women just trying to raise tiny humans the best that they can. Whether a sister, a fellow mother, a nanny, or friend in the time we all shared, we were truly blessed to live these precious moments together.

I’m still in complete shock over Courtney’s passing. She was truly one of the best people I’ve ever known—so pure, so loving, and always making everyone around her feel important and cared for.
I first met Courtney just over a year ago, and we hit it off right away. Some might think that’s not long enough to form a deep friendship, but with her, all it took was one conversation. You couldn’t help but love her instantly—her kind and beautiful soul just shone through.
In true military family fashion, we became close only a few months before my family and I had to move across the country. But we made sure to stay connected. Every conversation ended with one of us saying, “As soon as this is over , you guys are coming to visit!”
Over this past year, as I got to know her more, I was just amazed by how kind and giving she was. She was honestly too good for this world. Her love for her family was everything. She was the friend who would drop everything to help anyone in need, and most of all, she was an incredible mom.
Courtney, I will always remember your bright smile and that contagious laugh. I’ll always remember your amazing way with words. Every time we talked, I made sure to tell you that you had to write a book because your talent was just too good to keep to yourself. You had a special gift, and I was always in awe of it. I’ll think of you every time I see someone or myself holding onto cards for keepsakes because you loved collecting them and couldn’t bear to throw them away. I’ll never look at mixed play-dough without hearing you in my head—“You’re not supposed to mix the colors!” And I know I’ll always think of you when I have mint chocolate thins.
But more than anything, I’ll think of you when I see the good in people, because you always saw it so effortlessly. You radiated love, and it was impossible not to feel it when you were around.
You’ll always be in my heart, Courtney. I miss you, my dear friend.❤️
Brendan, Cillian and family, my heart goes out to you during this incredibly difficult time. Courtney was a beautiful person and will be missed deeply by everyone that loved her.

Courtney was a beautiful soul, inside and out. Full of personality and life and had this infectious 10/10 laugh that I can still hear now if I close my eyes and concentrate. From nights out in Dublin to celebrating her wedding to Brendan in the States my memories of my time with her will stay with me. She loved her life, she loved her family, she loved what she did. She loved the craic. But most of all she loved Brendan, and I think Cillian was just about her favourite thing on this planet.

I met Courtney when she was a staff person at Ernst & Young. (EY). I remember her to be vibrant and energetic. I lost touch with her until earlier this week when another former staff person of mine told me about her death. Of course I was saddened. However reading her obituary I was happy to hear what a full life she enjoyed with her husband and son. And her profession as a nurse. (She was smart to get out of accounting). I was such a shy kid around...well...everyone but I always looked forward to going to visit my NJ family because I'd get to see Courtney. She was always the friendly face inviting me to play with the rest of the cousins and making me feel included. I'll always remember the summer she spent a week with me on Long Island when we were kids, and the fun we had. Although I didn't stay in close contact with her, she was always such a bright light, a kind soul, an amazing writer and so much more. So full of life. My heart breaks for her family. I just learned today that my dear friend Courtney Ann died. Her struggle ends leaving her dear husband Brendan and adorable son.
So I write this with a heavy heart remembering the beautiful woman she was. I met Courtney while working at the Princeton Medical Center in NJ. She, Gerda and I were the three musketeers having the time of our lives with the volunteers of the hospital. Courtney helped me through some difficult times supporting me and my family. She was crazy about my two little boys and made sure they smiled whenever with her. She encouraged Chinye to play his trumpet in the hospital’s main corridor for Gerda’s birthday making sure the performance was cleared through security followed by an announcement to all staff - she was front and center for the grand performance. My youngest son was her “little buddy” meeting her when he was just 3 or 4; he is now 22 and still remembers her.
I told my buddies about my exit front the hospital and upcoming move back to Minnesota. It was a hard goodbye- we all cried.
Over the years we reconnected never losing our friendship.
Dear, sweet Courtney - forever in my heart, forever missed.

My dear sweet Courtney,
Where do I begin. You made me feel so important, valued, most of all you made me feel loved.
In PICU, spending 10 minutes trying to figure out wth you’re asking me for bc same equipment different names for it in Philly vs Pensacola. I always knew your lines were labeled and patients were getting nothing but the best care. It was always a good day when we could work together…laughing or crying we were gonna make it through.
I was increasingly fascinated as I learned about the guardian ad litem program and foster care from you. Both of us wanted so badly to get pregnant. We finally did and had our babies just a few months apart. I think I worked with you your last day before maternity leave. I remember wearing the yellow gowns in isolation and your baby bump with sweet Cillian on the inside. We had the boys first Halloween all planned out.
Outside of work, we still kept in touch whether it was FaceTime showing the boys their “cousin” or a quick phone call running errands. I remember worrying about everything as a new mom. Worrying whether I sterilized the bottles frequently enough and embarrassed that I had dared put them in the dishwasher on occasion instead of hand washing them. You instantly reassured me that I was not a “bad mom” but in fact very much normal and even doing a great job. I remember thinking, if I’m hearing that from you then it must be true.
I always felt so much better after talking with you. I think you had that effect on everyone. You were positive but did not shy away from talking about the hard things in life either. You were a true friend, the truest. Your smile and laughs I will never forget. What I would give to hear it once more.
I have a voicemail on my phone from a couple years ago. You had seen my fb post about a horse that I loved had died. You took the time to call me and make sure I was all right.
You sent Maurice a birthday gift, a giant elephant stuffed animal. I think Cillian had the same one.
You just were so entirely thoughtful and loving. I hope that I can channel that level of love and devotion to those I hold dear. I promise that I will never forget you, not ever. Until we meet again my friend. It has been the greatest honor to have known you, to love you, to be loved by you.

Q: What will you never forget about Courtney?
A: Just under two years ago, during Courtney’s too-brief remission from leukemia, Adrian, the girls, and I visited Brendan and Courtney for Thanksgiving week and experienced the shared joy of watching our children, cousins all aged 3 and under, play like puppies (alongside the actual puppy) and become fast friends. Courtney was magic with children and made every moment for them special, right down to the matching pumpkin-pie pajamas and cosy bedtime stories. She fully opened her home and her heart- despite feeling under the weather that week- and I will always cherish the book discussions we shared, the late night ice cream, the beautiful feast, the crisp playground walks, and this perfectly autumnal day out touring the parks and cafes of Princeton (photographed). Today, on another crisp autumnal day, we brought Cillian and the girls back to Princeton for an afternoon out and watched them play once more like pups in the very same park. Days like this will always be bittersweet, filled with memories of a very special person and the small but beautiful ways she brought more joy into the world.

Some of my favorite memories ever are when Courtney and Brendan took me and Cillian to Loco Pez in Fishtown. The first time we went to Fishtown, they walked me around the city and showed me different memories from when they lived there. A pizza shop that burned down, a diner they were positive was a front for the mob, an ice cream place where Courtney wrote the biggest “Happy 17th Birthday Lilykins!!” on the chalkboard. When you lose someone you love, it’s natural to remember them as brightening rooms, bringing hope into the lives around them. But with Courtney, that’s not something you see in retrospect. That was something you couldn’t help but notice every day you spent with her, every conversation you had. She is someone you look for in sunsets, in butterflies, in the things that can’t help but bring a smile to your face. In tacos and a place called Fishtown. Courtney was and always will be, a person impossible not to love. Her light shone so incredibly bright that it will be decades before it begins to fade.

Courtney is the first name that comes to mind when I think of my childhood. My first sleepover, my first car race, late nights putting our hair into so many braids to try and get that perfect wave…my first friend. We didn’t always stay in touch over the years but we sure did always cheer each other on and I was (and will always be) so proud to call her my friend. There are some people in life that just seem to be able to do it all with grace and a smile, and my goodness was she good at that. She made everything look easy and effortless but kept a kind heart about her always. I was in awe of that and wish I had told her so.
My heart goes out to everyone who adored Courtney, especially her amazing family, husband, and beautiful son. I don’t live far from Navarre Beach and plan to visit soon in her honor.

I have very fond and vivid memories of Courtney when she and Brendan visited us in Cullane north ballylanders co Limerick Ireland back in 2015.. it was an honour to meet her and learn about what she enjoyed to do in life.
