Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William Walworth Ward, Sr. passed away, peacefully, at home on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
Bill lived his life to the fullest. He was 83 years of perpetual motion, always learning, teaching, giving and loving. He proudly served his community as a paid apparatus driver with Rusling Hose Co. and as a proud member of the Hamilton Township Police Dept., retiring in 1989 as Lieutenant, was a Captain for the Civil Air Patrol and private pilot for 64 years, a proud member of the Octogenarian Pilot’s Club. Bill was a handyman extraordinaire and formerly operated Ward’s Property Maintenance for many years and, more recently, as the on-call handyman for Hamilton Dental Assoc. locations. He also kept busy working for NJDOT driving snow plows during the winter months and as a funeral assistant and driver for 10 years with Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home and several other area funeral homes. Bill volunteered countless time and service as an Elder at Slackwood Presbyterian Church, as a rider/scout for 30 years for Anchor House, and as an active member of the HHW Band Parents. He wore many hats, including Past Master of Gothic Fraternal Lodge No. 270, PGTC of Trenton Forest No.4, a Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was always active, biking, flying, fishing, camping, traveling (all 50 states and many countries), photographing his families’ sporting events, stilt walking for local festivities (as Uncle Sam) and enjoying music and playing percussion instruments. He loved people and never met a stranger; most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carol Ward. He was Dad to William Ward, Jr. (JoAnn), Wendy Nuel (Richard), Warren Ward (Rose) and PopPop to Ashley Malleo (Christopher), Richard Nuel (Christa), Justin Ward (Kristina), William Ward, III, Kyle Nuel (Francesca), Cody Ward, Travis Ward and Jeremy Ward, great-grandfather to Maddox and Dakota Nuel and Maylen and Maverick Malleo, brother-in-law to Laura Phillips (Vince), and grandpa to Nicole Ehnstrom (Dan), Aubrey Pool (Kelly), Jackson, Sophia, Cassidy, Melody, Isabella and Scott Jeter and was dearly loved by all.
