Obituary of Rose Marie Potocki

Rose Marie Potocki (nee Karnas), 95, of Hamilton, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2022, at Capital Health Medical Center, Hopewell. Rose was born on August 29, 1927, in Bloomfield, New Jersey, the daughter of Francis and Stefania Karnas.
Rose graduated from Bloomfield High School, and she went on to work at Mountainside Hospital. She frequently visited relatives in Trenton where she met and married the love of her life, Walter Potocki. While raising their five children, Rose worked at the United States Post Office and subsequently at Robert Wood Johnson (RWJ) Hospital-Hamilton, where she was a medical transcriptionist in the Radiology Department for 25 years. After retirement she returned to RWJ where she volunteered for many years.
Rose led a faith-filled life and was a longtime parishioner of Holy Cross Church, Trenton, and St. Raphael’s Parish after moving to Hamilton. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Hamilton Senior Club. She enjoyed a vibrant and active lifestyle, including bowling, swimming, tennis, bike riding, the YMCA, and especially time spent with her six grandchildren. Rose was sweet and kind to all in every aspect of her life and brought enormous joy to both family and friends throughout her life.
Rose was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Walter, of 56 years, brothers Bronislaus, Henry, Casimir, and Chester, and her son-in-law, Michael O’Neill. She is survived by her children, Donna Potocki, Cindy O’Reilly (Larry) , Jane O’Neill, Tom Potocki (Janie), Chris Potocki (Carol); and six grandchildren, Matthew O’Reilly (Jess), Patrick O’Reilly (Amanda), Katelyn Schmidt (Tim), Connor O’Neill (Dana), and Kristin and Nicholas Potocki; and two great grandchildren, Finn Lawrence O’Reilly and Reese Rose Schmidt. Rose is also survived by her three sisters, Helen Niemira, LillianTvedt, and Julia Hungerford, and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends, many of whom thought of Rose as their adopted grandmother.
Rose’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to all the wonderful doctors, nurses, EMTs, firefighters, and the staff at Greenwood House who assisted her throughout this past year.
Visitation is Thursday, September 22nd from 6 to 8 pm at Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home, 260 White Horse Avenue, Trenton, NJ.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 23rd, 10:30 am at St. Raphael Church, 3500 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ.
Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.
