Obituary of Richard S. Hutchinson

Richard Stanley Hutchinson (“Hutch”), 80, of Bethel, DE, entered into God’s care on Sunday, August 7, 2022.
Born in Trenton, he was a Hightstown resident before retiring and moving to Bethel, DE. Hutch was a graduate of Hightstown High School in 1960. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the U.S.S. Hyman DD-732. After his discharge in 1962, Hutch worked at McLean Engineering, and began his career in law enforcement as a police officer with the Hightstown Police Department, then the East Windsor Police Department, then the Mercer County Prosecutors Office, and retired from the New Jersey State Commission of Investigation in 1994. While working full-time, Hutch earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Trenton State College. He was an avid genealogist and historian, and dedicated most of his adult life to genealogical research, including tracing his family’s history back to the 1600’s.
He was a member of the Sailor’s Bethel United Methodist Church in Bethel, DE, the IOOF Charity Lodge #27 of Laurel, DE, the Bethel Historical Society, the Laurel Historical Society, the Hightstown-East Windsor Historical Society, and the Genealogical Society of New Jersey.
Richard was the son of the late Stanley Stults Hutchinson and Mary Florence Silvers Hutchinson, and brother of the late Dale Robert Hutchinson.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Faye Tallman Hutchinson, his children, Cori Lynn Hutchinson Quinlan and husband Keith, Kelli Lynn Hutchinson and husband Leonardo Bejarano; his sister, Dorothy Hunkele and husband Calvin; his grandchildren, Justin William Quinlan and wife Christina, and Chelsea Lynn Quinlan; his great-grandchildren, Niah Claire Quinlan and Marin Grace Quinlan; his nephews Dean Hunkele and Brad Hunkele, his niece, Loren M. Hutchinson, and his beloved cat, Willow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, New York 10001.
Funeral services and interment will be private under the direction of Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home, Hamilton, New Jersey.
