Obituary of Joseph Calabro
Joseph Calabro, 84, of Hamilton entered into God's care on Friday, January 7, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Born March 6th, 1937 in Montebello Jonico, Reggio Calabria, Italy, he immigrated to the United States in 1966 and became a naturalized US citizen in March of 1973.
Affectionately known as "Uncle Joe", he spent over 40 years with his brother and nephews hand making authentic Italian specialties at Porfirio's Italian Foods in Trenton, NJ. When he wasn't preparing sauces and fresh pastas, he could be found lending a helping hand to his closest friends and family or playing bocce at the Barron A.A. with his dear friend Natale.
Joe would return to Italy annually to visit with his eldest daughter, her family and his large extended family. He cherished participating in the traditions and events of the many annual catholic festivals alongside his sisters and nephews. Joe was a quiet man with a big smile and an even bigger heart. He was loved by and will be missed by many.
He is predeceased by his parents, Filippo Calabro and Consolata Imbalzano; his sisters, Giuseppina, Maria, Carmela Calabro and her husband Carmelo Romeo, his brother Pasquale and his wife Maria Calabro, and brothers-in-law Albert Delle Grotti and Candeloro Morabito.
Keeping his memory alive are his wife of 55 years, Nina Guarnaccia Calabro, his daughter Gabriella Calabro and her husband Santo Mallimaci, Daniela Reynolds and her husband Jeffrey, his son Jason Calabro and his wife Lauren; grandchildren, Silvio and Stefania Mallimaci; Joseph and Jason Calabro; his brother Anthony Calabro and his wife Clara; his sisters, Nina Delle Grotti, Assunta Calabro, and Francesca Calabro in addition to many cousins, nieces and nephews at home and abroad.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 14, 2022, at 11am in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, East State St, Hamilton Township, NJ 08619.
Calling hours will be Friday morning from 10:15am to 11am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
