John Cronin Wood, 66, of Hamilton, NJ, passed away, suddenly, at Capital Regional Medical Center, Trenton, NJ. Born in Trenton, John grew up surrounded by his devoted and compassionate maternal great-grandparents, grandparents, aunts and uncles and many cousins, all of which, lived on the same street in Hamilton Township. He was a 1976 graduate of Steinert High School, attended MCCC and worked in management for the Laurenti Family ShopRite Supermarkets of Mercer County for more than twenty years. John’s management and customer service talents were nationally and internationally recognized. The British Broadcast Company once filmed and re-enacted a local couple getting engaged with John’s help on the sales floor of the Pennington Circle ShopRite. Later, John worked as a New Jersey licensed real estate agent with DiDonato Realtors and retired from the HR department at Mercer County Board of Social Services. Care-giving was John’s by nature and he was always there for family and friends in their time of need. John was a lifelong parishioner of The Church of St. Anthony, in Hamilton. A proud and true American who never owned a foreign car, John was also very proud of his Italian heritage and his Umbrian roots. From the mountains of Umbria, Italy to the mountains of New England and Napa California and to the beaches of Hilton Head, S. Carolina, John loved to travel. Preceded in death by his great-grandparents Enrico and Maria Angelucci and Carlo and Pepina Bocchini, who emigrated to America from Umbria, Italy, his grandparents Andrew and Sylvia (Bocchini) Angelucci and his beloved mother Brenda Angelucci Wood, John is survived by his father Samuel Wood, his brothers Brent Cronin, Samuel (Angela) Wood, Todd (Faith) Wood, his step-sister Sharon Wood Thomas, his uncle David Angelucci, his nieces Jessica (his Goddaughter), Cara, Sylvia, and Lia, his Godson Vincent Conte, his lifelong friends John and Maria Parmigiani, Lonny and Marian Conte, Darl Brophy and George Xuereb and their extended families. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 11 AM at The Church of St. Anthony, 626 S. Olden Ave., Hamilton, NJ. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, 400 Woolsey St., Hamilton, NJ. Relatives and friends may visit on Wednesday from 10 to 11 AM at the church.
