After 80 years of a Wonderful and Blessed Life, Joseph L. Zangara, of Hamilton, passed away on November 17, 2023. Joe’s blessed life began when his grandfathers Mateo Zangara and Cosmo Cusimano immigrated to the USA at the turn of the 20th century to work in the coal mines of western Pennsylvania. Several years later, Joe’s grandmothers Rosina Zangara and Rosa Cusimano immigrated with Joe’s young parents Luciano “Louis” Zangara and Calogera “Lillian” Cusimano. Joe’s parents married in the small village of Dunlo, PA and began to raise their family. They worked hard and sacrificed for their family and moved to New Brunswick, NJ during the Great Depression to find better economic opportunities. Joe, the eighth of 8 children was born in New Brunswick and graduated from New Brunswick High School. After high school, as it was with his 4 older brothers, he served his country in the US Army for 2 years. While in the Army, Joe took courses from the American University. When discharged, Joe enrolled at Rutgers, New Brunswick and received his degree in Accounting in 1970. Joe’s professional career was with Bristol-Myers, Squibb where he worked in the Finance area for 25 years. He was blessed to have worked with so many talented people who helped him, mentored him and provided so many wonderful experiences. His work took him around the world, where he realized how blessed he was for his life in the USA that his grandparents and parents worked hard and sacrificed for his ability to achieve the American Dream. Joe was predeceased by his parents Lillian and Louis Zangara, his brothers Matthew, Cosmo and Louis Zangara and his sisters Rose Marie Dubrow and Mary Ann Bonnane.
