It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Garfield (Gar) Keintz, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Garfield passed away peacefully on September 28, 2023, at the age of 83.
Garfield was born on November 11, 1939, in Morristown, New Jersey, to Charles and Margaret Keintz. He grew up with his siblings, who he remained close to throughout his life. He attended Trenton High School, served in the US Navy and during this time, he met his future wife, Beverly whom he married in 1964 and had two sons, Arthur and David.
Gar had a passion for hair styling and along with his wife Beverly, opened Guys and Dolls Hair salon in 1976. He was a talented and creative stylist who made his clients feel beautiful and confident. He ran his salon for over 30 years until he retired. He was well-known and respected in the community for his professionalism and generosity.
Gar loved life and enjoyed every moment of it. He was an avid golfer and guitarist who also loved traveling, reading, and spending time with his family. He was a devoted grandfather to his grandchildren, who he adored and spoiled.
Gar is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beverly; his sons Art (Kari) and David (Karen); his grandchildren Christian and Sophia; his step grandchildren Ryan and Nick; his sisters Maria, Lea, Lorraine Clauser (Andre), Shirley; his brothers Roger (JoAnne) and Dean; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Margaret Keintz, siblings: Charles Keintz, Jr., Margaret Szekeres, Blanche Giaquinto and Carol Ryan.
Funeral services were held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Garfield’s memory.
Garfield will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a kind, loving, and joyful person who touched many lives. He left behind a legacy of beauty and happiness that will never be forgotten.
