Daniel Barry Houghton, 79, of Columbus NJ, died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on September 28, 2023. He was born in Trenton NJ on April 9, 1944, to parents Donald E. Houghton and Etta M. Houghton. Daniel attended Ewing High School, graduating in 1962. He joined the NJ National Guard in 1964. Following the National Guard Daniel joined the Ewing Township Police Department in 1971 until his retirement in 1994. During his tenure at the police department, he received the NJ State PBA award for bravery and action above and beyond the call of duty in 1978 and several departmental awards. Daniel enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, photography, bowling and golf as well as attending a multitude of events for his grandchildren. Daniel and is survived by his wife Dolores O. Houghton, daughter Michele (John) Coritz, Son Gary (MaryJane) Houghton and daughter Denise (Michael) Doncsecz. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael, Ryan, Justin and Megan and Sister Linda Coppola. Daniel’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the amazing staff at Serenity Hospice for their wonderful care. A memorial visitation will be held at Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home located at 206 White Horse Avenue, Hamilton NJ 08610 on Thursday October 5th from 6pm to 8pm.
