Carolyn J. Block Obituary

Carolyn “Judy” J. Block, 80, of Merritt Island, FL passed away, peacefully, on Sunday, May 14, 2023.

Born in Trenton, NJ and raised in Hamilton, NJ, she resided in Hamilton until moving to Merritt Island, FL 35 years ago. Judy was a 1961 graduate of Hamilton High School West and was employed with the State of NJ / Dept. of Labor and Industry, Trenton, and Dunham’s Department Store, Hamilton. After moving to Florida, she went to work for the Florida Dept of Transportation until her retirement. Judy was a member of Merritt Island Moose Lodge #2073, various RV clubs, loved creating and teaching ceramic classes, was an avid bowler at Colonial and White Horse Lanes. She enjoyed RV travelling with her husband, trips to the casino’s and wandering around Epcot in Florida.

Daughter of the late George and Gertrude Dennis and sister if the late Walter (June), George, Jr., and Gary Dennis, she is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Donald E. Block, her son Donald E. Block, Jr., her daughter Terri (Paul) Verderese, her grandchildren Ashley (Randy) Stratton, Anthony (Shelby) Verderese, and Alyssa Verderese, her great-grandson Hunter Stratton, her brother-in-law Gary Block and her sister-in-law Eleanor (Joe) D’Amico several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 11 AM at Kingston and Kemp Funeral Home, 260 White Horse Ave., Hamilton, NJ (KingstonandKemp.com).

Interment will follow at Colonial Memorial Park, 3039 S. Broad St., Hamilton, NJ.

Relatives and friends may visit on Tuesday from 9 to 11 AM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (stjude.org).
