Gabor “Gus” Burson, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026 surrounded by his loving family and his Brandywine family.

Born in Trenton, he lived most of his life in the Trenton/Hamilton area. He graduated from Trenton Catholic High School in 1959. He went on to honorably serve his county in the United States Army. Following his service he went to work the for the State of New Jersey, Division of Taxation for 37 years.

Gus was a huge baseball fan and his favorite team was the Philadelphia Phillies. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards and his favorite player was Mike Schmitt. He also enjoyed football and went to the Football Hall of Fame games in Canton, Ohio for 25 plus years. He liked to walk and read. He also loved to play the lottery and do scratch off tickets. He enjoyed going to the beach and relaxing on the bench taking in the view of the ocean. He was a lifelong member of the Trenton Elks Lodge 105. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He will be remembered most for his quiet, kind nature, big heart and loyalty to his family and friends.

Predeceased by his parents, Gabor and Anna (Svelta) Burson.

Survived by his sister, Barbara Pogorzelski; his niece, Christine Howley and husband, Philip, several cousins, dear friends and caregivers at Brandywine, especially Jill.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church 343 S Broad Street, Trenton, NJ 08608.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 343 S Broad Street, Trenton, NJ 08608.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N Michigan Avenue Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601.
