Arturo Ongaro Obituary
Arturo Ongaro, 100 years of age, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 with his loving family at his bedside. Arturo was born in Cordenons, Pordenone, Italy and resided there for the first 23 years of his life. In 1949, Arturo emigrated from Cordenons and moved to Trenton and later, Hamilton, New Jersey where he built a house and resided for the remainder of his years.
Arturo was a very accomplished craftsman and enjoyed using his woodworking and masonry skills. Working hard was a strong characteristic of his. Following in the footsteps of many Italians from his region, Arturo began his career as a terrazzo master craftsman at Integro, Inc in Trenton. Arturo spent 35 years in the terrazzo industry and was extremely proud of the precast terrazzo products he produced. Following his career in the terrazzo industry, he was employed by the State of New Jersey at the State House in Capital Services. After working since the age of 12, Arturo finally retired at 65 and found a number of recreational activities to enjoy. He was a member of the Hamilton Elks for many years and passionately enjoyed his time singing with the Glee Club. He was also a member of the Hamilton Senior Center. Arturo was an avid soccer fan and supported the Italian Serie A teams Udinese and Juventus. Woodworking, gardening, wine making, and bocce were a number of the activities Arturo enjoyed. Playing bocce in his yard was a favorite entertainment and he greatly enjoyed playing with his sons and grandsons.
Son of the late Andrea Ongaro and Matilde Turrin, Arturo was predeceased by his wife Helen and his second wife Mary. He was also predeceased by his brothers Erminio, Federico, Osvaldo, Ernesto, Dovino, and sister Marianna. Arturo is survived by and will be greatly missed by his three sons and their wives, Peter and Evelyn Ongaro of Chesterfield, New Jersey, Henry and Donna Ongaro of Montpelier, Virginia, and Richard and Deborah Ongaro of Columbus, New Jersey. He is also survived by his step children, Patty and Joe Schemmer, Tory DiPasquale and their children all of Hamilton, New Jersey. Arturo is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher and wife Amy, David and wife Marisa and Richard Ongaro, Andrea and his wife Jessica, Russell, Helena and her husband David, and Allison and her husband Chris. Arturo was proud to be a great grandfather to Kai, Lily, RJ, Arturo, Rocco, Ryder, Andy, and Angelo. Arturo is also survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law including his sister-in-law Augusta in Argentina as well as nieces and nephews in Italy, Argentina, and Canada.

Services will be held at Kingston and Kemp Funeral Home, 260 White Horse Ave., Hamilton, NJ. and friends and relatives may visit on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 10 am to 12 pm. at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at 12:45 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery
