Robert D. Smith, 79, of Hamilton passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, NJ.

Bob was a lifelong resident of Mercer County. He graduated from Trenton Central High School in 1965. Robert worked at Sears Roebuck & Company for 20+ years, a part-time employee at The Hibbert Group for many years and ACME in Yardville for 34 years. His neighborhood nickname was “ACME Bob” as well as “the Mayor of Yardville” for his enate ability to connect with people. He enjoyed his time at work for he truly was a person of customer service.

Bob’s happiest times were spent with his long-time companion Susan Halko for almost 25 years. They dearly loved each other and truly enjoyed life together. On his spare time, he enjoyed trips to the beach and watching baseball. Bob was always a Yankee fan and in more recent years, Susan being a Dodger fan, he had no choice but to follow the Dodgers, and together they enjoyed baseball.

Predeceased by his parents, Chester and Catherine (Wozniak) Smith; his brother Greg Smith.

Survived by his brother Jim Smith, sister-in-law Maggie, a nephew and niece; a sister Eileen; his three daughters and several grandchildren. Susan’s family, who adored him and loved him dearly, as well as many friends.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrenceville Rd. Lawrence Twp., NJ 08648.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrenceville Rd. Lawrence Twp., NJ 08648.
