Roger Watson Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roger James Watson, who departed this world on February 23, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on May 4, 1943, in Yonkers, New York, Roger was the beloved son of the late Sydney and Mary (Maewsky) Watson.

Roger is survived by his wife, Linda (Seavey); his sons, Christopher (Kara) and Justin (Ashley); and his brothers, Thomas (Judy) and Ken (Karen). Roger’s legacy continues through his three beloved grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his later years. Gabriella, Evelyn, and Graham will always love and remember their "Pops."

Raised in White Plains, NY, Roger cherished his childhood memories alongside his brothers. A dedicated student, he graduated from White Plains High School before earning a degree in Chemical Engineering from Manhattan College. Roger later moved to New Jersey to begin a distinguished career with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, and later worked for Kling-Lindquist in Philadelphia. One of his proudest personal achievements was earning his Master’s Degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Roger’s life was defined by service and community. As a proud member of the Knights of Columbus (Burlington, NJ), Samaritan House, and Toastmasters International, he dedicated his time to causes close to his heart.

He loved the Philadelphia Phillies almost as much as his family. A constant fixture at the ballpark as both a fan and an usher, Roger’s favorite memory was witnessing the Phillies’ 2008 World Series victory in person. He was a master of the scorecard, teaching his sons the finer points of this activity. At home, he found peace and fulfillment in his garden, cultivating a beauty and tranquility that mirrored his own gentle spirit.

Roger’s personality shone through in his daily rituals. He enjoyed walking his dogs and possessed a sharp, witty mind, often dreaming up clever newspaper headlines after big sporting events. Weekend mornings were reserved for listening to Sid Mark’s "The Sounds of Sinatra" while flipping blueberry pancakes for his family. He had a penchant for the classics: Stewart’s Root Beer floats, Fribbles from Friendly’s, and burgers on the grill while watching Cheers, Seinfeld, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Elizabeth Koob, Rose Fisher, AJ Verunac and Renaissance Care Home, whose compassion provided Roger with great comfort.
