Dorothy A. McSorley Obituary

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother Dorothy A. McSorley on February 19th,2026 at the age of 103. She resided in Hamilton at the same address for 75 years. She loved her backyard and tended to it regularly in earlier years. She drove that big 1984 Mercury until she was 94 and turned it expertly in the driveway every time.

I used to love watching her making Christmas cookies with her granddaughters over the years making my weekend visits an event sometimes. The dinners at Christmas and Thanksgiving were a virtual feast. 1st time attendees could not believe the amount of great food that went on the table and was consumed. Birthdays were also special in that mom would cook your favorite meal and many times the request was “Pigs in a Blanket “a dish she learned from Nana Tingo, her mom.

Mom was athletic and rode horses in her youth, was a cheerleader at THS and then introduced all of us kids to ice skating at Lakeside and Hillwood lakes.

Dorothy was born in Trenton, NJ on June 24th, 1922. She was the daughter of the late George and Anna Tingo, wife of the late Jack McSorley, mother of the late Daniel McSorley and sister of her late brothers George and Bill Tingo. She is survived by her son, John M. McSorley and daughter Mary I. McSorley and her daughter EmmaGrace and son, Patrick W. and wife Patricia McSorley with grandchildren John and Katie and their children Henry/Max and Charlotte. A large group of nephews, nieces, grandnieces and cousins.

Dorothy was a graduate of Trenton Central High School, class of 1940. She worked in the accounting dept. at New Jersey Manufacturers Ins. Company for 25 years. She was a member of St Raphael's Church and Rosary and Altar Society for many years. She was also a member of both the Elderberry and Hamilton Senior Citizens of Hamilton Twp.
