James Francis Brogan, III Obituary

James F. “Jim” Brogan, III, passed away, peacefully, at home, after a long illness on August 17, 2025 at the age of 76.


Born in 1948, he was the oldest of 5 siblings and a lifelong Trenton area resident. In 1968, he was drafted into the US Army. Jim fought in the Vietnam War as a member of the 1st Cavalry Division. He received awards such as RVN Gallantry Cross, National Defense Medal and the Bronze Star during his time in the service and he was a proud Vietnam veteran.


When he returned home in 1970, he married his wife Florence and began working as manager of Modern Equipment Rentals, a position he held for more than 30 years.


From an early age, Jim enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, spending countless hours on his bass boat and teaching his sons how to fish. He also served as president of the Mercer County Bass fishing club for many years. Jim cherished the many friendships he made through his career and his hobbies.


Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James F., Jr. and Shirley Brogan, and two siblings, Sheila K. Walker and Patrick S. Brogan.


He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Florence Brogan, two sons, James F., IV and Patrick V. and his wife Lisa, and his three grandsons, who were his pride & joy, David, Lucas and Garrett Brogan. He is also survived by his brother Michael and sister-in-law Kris of Minneapolis, MN and his sister Colleen Brogan of Hamilton, and many nieces, nephews.


Funeral service will be on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 11 AM at Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home, 260 White Horse Ave., Hamilton, NJ.


Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Hamilton Ave., Hamilton, NJ.


Relatives and friends may visit on Tuesday from 9 to 11 AM at the funeral home.
