New Bern, NC Janice Morton, beloved Mother & Friend to all she came into contact with, departed this world to be with her Lord in Heaven on May 24, 2025.

Janice was born April 3, 1937 in Trenton, NJ. She graduated Trenton High School and was married to Robert P Morton Sr in 1955. She raised her two sons and worked as an Administrative Assistant for many years at Helene Fuld Hospital, also in Trenton, NJ. She had a wide circle of friends and enjoyed many group activities. She was also a devoted, lifelong member of St Raphael’s Church on Gropp Ave. in Hamilton, NJ.

In 2021, Janice and her long-time companion, Nick Katona, relocated to New Bern, NC to be cared for by her son Robert and daughter-in-law Carol. Mr Katona died in New Bern on June 6, 2022 and was interred with full honors in Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC.

Janice is survived by her two sons, Robert P Morton Jr (Carol) and Paul J Morton (Kathy). She was predeceased by her husband of 29 years, Robert P Morton in 1985.

She also leaves behind a beloved nephew, Paul Matzke and great niece Emily Matzke, as well as two grandsons, Brandon J Morton (Cassie) and Travis R Morton; her long-time good friend Pam Lueker, her “phone buddy” Halina Manger, and scores of friends and neighbors.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home, 260 White Horse Ave., Hamilton, NJ.

Janice will be buried alongside her mother and late husband at Colonial Memorial Park, 3039 S. Broad St., Hamilton, NJ.

Relatives and friends may visit from 10 to 11:30 AM at the funeral home.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
