Obituary of Michael J. Goydan
Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that we bid farewell to a beloved man, Michael John Goydan, of Hamilton NJ. Michael fought with ninja-like strength against the horrendous, cruel grip of ALS, but on March 7, 2025, at the age of 66, passed away with his devoted wife Karen by his side.
Michael’s true calling was music and being a musician, a drummer. He began taking lessons at age five and as he progressed, studied drums under the guidance of the late great drummer, Tony DeNicola. His first bands began when he was just a teen and then in mid-life once again when he brought his friends together to form the band DarkWater. Through music he made many cherished and life-long friends. He was also a talented sound man for other local bands and some famous ones as well who would play in a local venue in Bordentown to the joy of many audiences.
In life, Michael did everything he loved to do with dedicated passion: surfing, scuba diving, skiing, hunting, martial arts (for which he earned a fifth-degree black belt) and saltwater fishing on his beloved boat - the Rock Lobster. He loved the beach and nature, and whenever possible, taking his dogs on outings to enjoy them as well.
He worked at the State Fishery on Duck Island, became a glazier then moved on to be a NJ State Corrections Officer and then on to the Trenton Police Force, from which he retired, and then became an independent contractor for LJS Signs.
Predeceased by his parents, Michael J. Goydan, Jr. and Margaret Kondor Goydan, Michael is survived by his wife and companion of 27 years, Karen, his brother Robert Goydan, Sr., nephew Robert Goydan, Jr. and wife Kimberly, great nephew Hunter Goydan, his brother-in-law Terence Guld and wife Gerri Guld along with their children and grandson, as well as many cousins, and last but not least, his dogs whose companionship gave him much happiness.
To know Michael was to love him because of his outstanding kindness and generosity.
We will miss you very much but know that you are in the loving arms of the Lord and no longer suffering.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 12 Noon at Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home, 260 White Horse Ave., Hamilton, NJ.
